Two artists find common ground in
the September exhibition titled, "Our Creature Comforts"
Cocoa Beach, FL-QuiQue's Gallery,
located in the Beach Place Guesthouses on 1445 South
Atlantic Avenue, will be holding a unique multi-media
exhibition by two Brevard County Artists, Reneé Decator
and Suzanne Clements.
"We knew that we wanted to work
together creatively and finally after much discussion
this idea just clicked between us." Says Suzanne
when asked how they developed the theme for the show.
"Nearly everyone has experienced a strong bond with
an animal at some time in our lives, be it a fleeting
moment or a long time friendship. We wanted to explore
this relationship and really illustrate how we all weave
these encounters into our daily lives as well as our
beliefs, superstitions, and family folklore."
Each artist brings to the canvases
their own personal style, stories, and interpretations
of the theme. Reneé is well known for her striking colors
and painterly expressive style while Suzanne's work
reflects a more subtle realistic approach. Both have
admitted that this new series of work has forced them
into previously unknown territory.
"Because the work we're doing
is so focused around specific stories and superstitions,
the paintings have almost taken on an illustrative quality.
At first we were both a little nervous about the new
direction our work was taking; however now I feel like
we're really hitting our stride and forging a new path."
